LTO has been widely used as many kinds of storages. This letter describes two kinds of storages; “File Storage” and “Object Storage”.

FILE STORAGE

When we save data, we name the data and save it in a file. This storage system is called “File Storage.” There is an advantage of being easy to manage data because the data is stored in the named file. In fact, LTO can be used as “File Storage” by using LTFS software introduced from LTO5.

OBJECT STORAGE

Nowadays, because of the rise of AI and IoT, it has been necessary to store large volume of data, and “Object Storage" is also paid attention more than before. There is an advantage of storing large volume of data without selecting a specific file. Cloud storage is famous for an example of “Object Storage.” Tape storage is also used by cloud service providers.
